We have become totally dependent on an interdependent system based on constant expansion in a finite space. As soon as parts of the system fail, chaos results.

Remember people killing each other at the gas pumps in the 1970's or the paper shortages and the toilet paper hoarders?  How long would it take modern man to revert back to barbarism if the system failed?

The system pushes consumerism and product obsolescence to support itself.  The landfills testify to the quality of its products. Population control is not taken seriously, for huge populations create new markets for inferior products and cheap labor pools.

Technology, instead of becoming our savior, may become our undoing.
